Hosting a Mini 'al-fresco' Dinner Party

It's finally the time of year where I am completely happy to spend every moment of sunshine outside- be it working, catching up on the news or even sitting down for a good meal with friends. It’s not often we get the chance, so with longer evenings and dappled sunlight being the order of the day (after some freshly baked bread, of course)- I thought I’d put together some of my top tips for a failsafe outdoor garden party in the city with my KitchenAid® Artisan® Mini Mixer (which often means space is limited- so let’s make this mini too)

  1. When it comes to planning a menu- my best bet is to think of things you can prepare in advance- nobody wants to be spending good hosting time away from guests after all! Prepare things like warm bread, homemade pasta dishes and simple desserts like Eton Mess or gooey brownies- all of which you can easily prep in your KitchenAid® Artisan® Mini Mixer (from mixing egg whites to kneading loaves)- which means you have more time to think about decoration and other details whilst it does the hard work.

  2. Which leads me nicely on to my next point- sharing! The best thing about garden parties or having friends over is having easy, picnic-style sharable meals. This means not only do you have to worry less about making sure there’s something for everyone (as you can guarantee there will be)- but it also means people can self serve which ultimately adds to a relaxing atmosphere.

  3. One of my favourite things to do is prepare a playlist! Ask around for favourite tracks and create something summery and fun to have on in the background- nothing sets a chilled atmosphere like some favourite hits in the background (and who knows- you might even get a karaoke session at the end too)!

  4. When it comes to thinking of decor, with small spaces- less is more. Don’t needlessly clutter up the space if you don’t have to, but instead go for clean colours (like a white tablecloth and fun runner)- and customise it with favourite crockery and deliciously colourful dishes and blooms.

  5. Lastly- travel; remember to not feel restricted to one space. Whether you want to host in a different space or at a friends, the Artisan® Mini Mixer is great for loading up and getting around and small enough to get from a to b without too much hassle- there’s no excuse for a get together now!
